Common questions

Does this use AI or ChatGPT?

No. AlgebraPulse contains a symbolic mathematics engine that applies the rules of algebra in exact fractions. There is no language model and no answer bank, and nothing is guessed. That is why the same question always produces the same working — a teacher can hand the question back to the app and get an identical sheet.

Does my child's work get uploaded anywhere?

No. Questions, photos, solutions and progress stay on the device and are never sent to us. Solving works with no connection at all, including in airplane mode. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party trackers. Photos taken while scanning are read in memory and are never saved or uploaded.

The photo was read incorrectly.

Handwriting can be ambiguous — 1 and l, or x and ×, are common confusions. This is why the app always shows you the line it recognized before solving; you can edit that line directly. For best results, photograph one question at a time in even light, and keep the page flat. Typing the question is always available and always accurate.

Is my child's exact topic covered?

Coverage is Grade 7–10 algebra and trigonometry: linear and quadratic equations, inequalities, systems of two equations, expanding and factoring, formula rearrangement, trigonometric equations in degrees, and triangles by Pythagoras and the sine and cosine rules. Trigonometry is worked in degrees. If a problem is outside that range, the app says so rather than returning a wrong answer.

What costs money?

Solving and every step of working are free, unlimited, with no advertising. Pro adds only two things: printable PDF hand-in sheets, and unlimited practice with weak-spot targeting. Pro is $3.99 per month or $19.99 per year, with a 7-day free trial on the yearly plan where you are eligible. You can copy and share full working as text without Pro.

How do I cancel, or restore a purchase?

Cancel in Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions on your device, at least 24 hours before the period ends. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. If you reinstall or change device, open the Pro screen and tap “Restore purchases”. Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us.

For teachers

Every export carries a note stating how the working was produced and that the app uses no AI, so you can see plainly where a sheet came from. The working is reproducible: enter the same question, and you will get the same steps. AlgebraPulse does not follow any single board's sequence — where your class has been taught a different valid method, that method should be preferred. Whether the app is permitted on a given assignment is your call, and we say so inside the app.

Accessibility

AlgebraPulse supports Dynamic Type, VoiceOver labelling and Reduce Motion. If something is hard to use with assistive technology, please tell us — we treat that as a bug.
